Black Forest Packaging Solutions is established

January 2011 – Erich Eberhardt and Perry Keifer are pleased to announce they have entered into a partnership to establish Black Forest Packaging Solutions, LLC with the single-minded purpose of providing high quality washdown continuous-motion vertical form, fill, and seal machines for packaging hot or cold liquid, viscous, and solid products in single, dual, or multi-component fills.
Eberhardt and Keifer pioneered this type of continuous-motion technology, and have partnered with Wolf Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH to integrate it into their existing machine design and sell it under the Black Forest banner branded as the LiquidMaster. “Initially, we are going to have our machines built by Wolf incorporating our unique squeeze roller technology and programming, but our plans are to be building machines in the U.S. by 2016” says Eberhardt, President of Black Forest.
Wolf Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH has been in business for over 25 years, and has over 5,000 machines installed worldwide. They manufacture auger fillers, cup fillers, intermittent and continuous motion vertical form, fill, seal machines, vertical cartoners, horizontal flow wrappers, and related packaging equipment.
“All the major machine manufacturers who utilize some form of squeeze roller technology for the liquid market are in partnerships with film suppliers, and tie the purchase of the film and machine together in a contract” said Keifer, Vice President of Black Forest. “We have no formal contracts with any film suppliers, but do work closely with a few strategic partners if a customer wants to go in that direction. However, our primary focus is selling the machine direct to the customer, and enable them to purchase the film of their choice”.
Black Forest is housed in a 5,000 square foot facility that is located just outside of Atlanta in Norcross, GA. It includes a machine testing/demonstration area, first class service department, a thoroughly stocked parts department, and a complete machine shop consisting of a CNC machine, horizontal lathes, milling machines, hydraulic presses, MIG, TIG, and stick welding capabilities, grinding and refinishing equipment, and a paint booth with oven.
